Chinese mums 'want more babies'
China, which is the world's most populous country, has operated a one child policy since 1979 in an attempt to ease the strain on the nation's scarce land, energy and water supplies
Parents who choose to go against the policy and have larger families must pay fines.
While the Chinese authorities insist that the system has made people wealthier, a new study has shown that the majority of women would love to have more than one child.
The National Family Planning Commission found that women would like to be able to have children of both genders and they are also concerned about spoiling their only children.
Over the years, the many only children of China have earned themselves the nickname "little emperors" because of the attention lavished upon them.
Some 83 per cent of women would like to have both a son and a daughter, according to the survey.
"Our research shows that 70.7 per cent of women would like to have two or more babies," the China Daily quoted Jiang Fan, vice-minister of the commission, as saying.
"Some mothers think only children suffer from loneliness and can become spoiled."
No matter how many "little emperors" you've got, to meet other single parents, search for your perfect date!
